U.S. Transportation Secretary Highlights Expanding Mass Transit in Orlando

January 31, 2014 | WMFE Orlando - U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx says mass transit connects people with jobs, fueling the economy of any thriving community. Foxx was in Orlando on Friday to tour a new bus route through the heart of downtown that's scheduled to open this spring.

The bus route will connect attractions like a new performing arts center and soccer stadium with vital destinations like the health department and federal courthouse.

"Good transit systems aren't just about getting from A to B. They are about providing the bloodline of our economy and the ability to get to work and have a good quality of life."

Foxx spoke of Orlando's expanding mass transit before a small gathering of elected leaders and on-lookers at LYNX Central Station.

Eventually SunRail will connect with the bus station. He says that will provide even more connectivity.
