Metro Orlando parents have been utilizing After Hours Pediatrics Urgent Care for years. The independent group of clinics have been operating throughout Florida since 1997. But Nemours Physician and Patient Network Operations Director Bill Winder says the hospital just acquired five Orlando After Hours locations. “The physicians and nurses and staff and the administrative team as well have agreed to come over with us, so we’re not going to miss a beat,” he says.

Winder says the new arrangement offer some advantages- electronic health records are immediately available to doctors at both the hospital and urgent care, as are x-rays.  According to the Urgent Care Association of America, hospitals are increasingly interested in acquiring urgent care operations as a way to grow their business.
