March 19 is the 50th Anniversary of Jerrie Mock's Historic Solo Flight Around the World


March 18, 2014 | WMFE, Orlando - On March 19th, 1964, Geraldine "Jerrie" Mock climbed into her single engine Cessna plane and took off from Columbus, Ohio, on what would become a historic flight.

Mock became the first woman to fly solo around the world, and March 19 marks the 50th anniversary of her flight.

90.7's Carmel Delshad spoke to Mock just before the anniversary of the history-making flight.
