11 Children Injured in Hit and Run at Daycare


April 9, 2014 | WMFE, Orlando- 12 people. including 11 children, have been taken to hospital after a car hit a daycare in Orlando this afternoon. Authorities are searching for a pickup truck that hit the car, sending it crashing into the Kindercare on Goldenrod Road, near University Boulevard.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the vehicle is a silver or grey Dodge Durango missing a front bumper. 

They're asking the driver to come forward. 

11 children and one adult have been transported to area hospitals, some with serious injuries.

At a press conference Mayor Teresa Jacobs made a plea for information from residents of Orange and Seminole Counties about the Dodge and its driver.

“If you see a vehicle which fits the description that is driving around without its front bumper or anything suspicious, please immediately call 911, let us know, we need to make sure that every piece of information comes together,"  said Jacobs.

"Also please spend this evening in prayer for the families of the children who have been injured in this absolute tragedy and disaster.” 

The Orange County Fire Rescue says the patients have a variety of injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the hit and run.
