Server Glitch Causes FCAT Delays Statewide

April 22, 2014 | WMFE, Orlando - Hundreds of students were affected Tuesday morning after a technical error kept them from logging on to take the exam.

Orange County Public School officials said students weren’t able to log onto the Pearson system to start the FCAT. Pearson, the company that administers the test, is based in New Jersey. Only some servers were affected, which is why the outages only affected certain counties and test subjects.

Students in Orange County taking the sixth, seventh and ninth grade reading and 10th grade reading make up exams were affected. In Seminole County, 7th and 10th grade reading and 6th grade math exams were delayed.

Polk County also reported issues for sixth, seventh and eighth grade exams.

The Florida Department of Education is expected to brief the affected counties on the next steps Tuesday afternoon.
