I-4 Mobility Partners Picked for Road Expansion Project

April 24th, 2014 | WMFE- The Florida Department of Transportation has chosen I -4 Mobility partners to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the I-4 Ultimate project at a cost of more than $2.3 billion.

The project includes reconstructing 21 miles of I-4 from west of Kirkman road in Orange County through to east of State Road 434 in Seminole County.

In addition to the free lanes already in use, the project will add 4 tolled express lanes.

The Florida Department of Transportation says the tolls will be adjusted to improve traffic.

Tolls would be higher during heavy congestion periods and lower when traffic is light.

FDOT will retain the toll revenue and will control the toll rates.

Construction is slated to begin in 2015 and should finish in 2021.
