May 5th, 2014 | WLRN- With Florida's 2014 legislative session at an end, Governor Rick Scott and other elected officials can now turn their attention to the 2014 campaign season

The legislative session ended late Friday night, after lawmakers passed a $77.1 billion budget.

The largest budget in state history expands funding for public schools and universities, environmental projects and child welfare.

Governor Rick Scott says the session was a success partly due to record funding for education.

“It doesn’t matter what country you were born into, what family or what zip code, you will have your chance to live the American Dream,” said Scott.

But many Democrats say the session ended without tackling such important issues as raising the minimum wage and expanding Medicaid to more Floridians.
