Group Cancels Charlie Crist Appearance

May 15, 2014 | WMFE, Orlando - Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist was invited to speak at a Council of 100 event in Orlando Thursday morning, but Crist said the group cancelled at the last minute.

Florida’s Council of 100 is a group of business leaders in the state that aims to promote economic development.

Governor Rick Scott spoke at the event Thursday morning.

Crist thinks his campaign challenger’s appearance was the reason for the cancellation.

“I can’t help but believe it’s Rick Scott, you know, he was speaking at 8, I was scheduled to speak at 11. I don’t think he wants to hear what I have to say,” said Crist to reporters. 

Crist released the transcript of his speech and in it he criticized Scott’s education and energy policies. 

Crist faces Nan Rich in the Democratic Primary August 12th.
