Spotlight: Orlando Fringe Theatre Festival Gets Underway

May 16, 2014 | WMFE, Orlando - This is the first weekend of the 23rd annual Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival, a 13-day event at Loch Haven Park with roughly 500 performances of plays, music, dance, and more. Local, national, and international entertainment is on offer, and since the festival is famously uncensored and unjuried, creativity and experimentation are encouraged. It's no surprise, then, that many Fringe shows are adult-themed in nature...but there are also events appropriate for kids.

This week, 90.7’s Nicole Creston speaks with people from both ends of Fringe’s family-friendly spectrum – “Kids Fringe” producer Genevieve Bernard, and veteran Fringe performer Elizabeth Loftus, who kicks things off by describing her adults-only show. It’s a parody of the infamously racy book, “Fifty Shades of Gray.”

Next up is “Kids Fringe” producer Genevieve Bernard. She says "Kids Fringe" is full of family-friendly events in keeping with the festival’s artistic flair.
