Hunter’s Creek ER held a ribbon cutting for the $10 million project Thursday night, but it won’t actually open for patients until next month.

Marketing director Vanessa Guevara says the free standing ER allows the company to save on the overheads of a big hospital campus.

“It’s an easier construction, there’s less cost involved, easier to get one up quickly," she says.

"You know we broke ground in November, and here we are, getting ready to open.”

Guevera says it’s a model that seems to work.

She adds parent company Hospital Corporation of America just broke ground on another free-standing ER in Clearwater.

Osceola Regional Medical Center expects the Hunter’s Creek ER to see about 6,000 to 6,500 patients in its first year of operation.
