Spotlight: For Orlando's PechaKucha Night, It's All In The Timing

June 13, 2014 | WMFE, Orlando -- Orlando has its own take on a presentation style with international roots. On Friday the 13th, Central Florida will experience its 13th PechaKucha Night, or "PKN" for short. It's an evening of local speakers covering diverse topics, tied together by a timed format that keeps presenters on their toes.

Each person must give a speech in tandem with the twenty slides he or she chose to accompany the presentation. The catch is, the slides are changed automatically every twenty seconds. Do the math, and each speaker has precisely six minutes and forty seconds of stage time. The format does not allow for wiggle room…and PKN Orlando organizer Eddie Selover says that’s part of what makes the evening so interesting.

90.7’s Nicole Creston spoke with Selover about the attraction of PechaKucha Night.
