June 12th, 2014 | WMFE, Orlando - A year ago this week, Jury selection began for the trial of George Zimmerman. Zimmerman was accused of second degree murder for fatally shooting unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin. The shooting and the initial delay in charging Zimmerman sparked nationwide protest, and the trial itself drew national attention. Zimmerman was ultimately acquitted, but the debate about issues of profiling and Florida's self-defense laws continues today. Orlando Sentinel Columnist and editorial writer Darryl Owens talks to 90.7's Matthew Peddie about what's changed in the year since the trial.
