Central Florida Expressway Authority Takes Shape with New Appointments

June 24, 2014 | WMFE, Orlando - Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs has appointed a local commissioner to the new Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX).

Mayor Teresa Jacobs appointed District 1 Commissioner Scott Boyd to the new Central Florida Expressway Authority.

Boyd was elected to the Board of County Commissioners in 2008. He joins Teresa Jacobs, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, and Osceola County Commissioner Fred Hawkins in the board overseeing the new authority.

The authority replaces the now-dissolved Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority, which has been plagued with controversy in recent months amid allegations of corruption.

In May, Former Board Member Marco Peña pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of violating Florida's Sunshine Law. Earlier this month, three other people, including former board member Scott Batterson, were indicted by a grand jury.
