June 30, 2014 | WMFE, Orlando - Circuit Judge Debra Nelson ruled George Zimmerman isn't entitled to any money from NBC Universal, and quashed the two-year-old libel suit.

In court documents, Zimmerman claims that NBC portrayed him as a racist when employees edited and aired a clip of a 911 call he made just before he shot and killed Trayvon Martin.

Judge Nelson said Zimmerman failed to show that NBC acted with actual malice, and upheld NBC’s defense that Zimmerman was a public figure.

He was seeking payment for damages from the broadcasts of the 911 calls.

Judge Nelson also presided over Zimmerman’s criminal case in 2012. Unless an appeals court reverses the decision, the libel suit is closed.
