Orlando Lions Poised to Sign International Star

July 1, 2014 | WMFE, Orlando -- Orlando City Soccer is set to sign the 2007 FIFA World Player of the Year to its new MLS team. Brazilian Kaká is flying into Orlando for an announcement at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.

If all goes as planned, Kaká will bring star power to Orlando's new Major League Soccer franchise.  He helped Brazil win the 2002 World Cup, and by 2007, some sports observers were calling him the best player in the world.

Now 32-years-old, Kaká isn’t playing in this year’s World Cup tournament.  He’s the same age as U.S. fan-favorite Landon Donovan, whose health and age kept him off this year’s roster too.

But, even a 30-something international great can stand out in the MLS.  English star David Beckam became an MLS All Star when he was 37.

The Lions are expected to introduce Kaká to fans this afternoon – during a Wall Street watch party for the U.S. round of 16 World Cup match.
