FAA Approves Orlando Airport's Expansion Plans

July 14, 2014 | WMFE, Orlando- The Federal Aviation Authority gave Orlando International Airport the green light on its plans for a new intermodal facility.

The approval of Orlando International Airport’s economic development plan means the airport has the go-ahead to begin work on a brand new intermodal facility.

The new facility is part of an overall $1.1 billion capital improvement to the airport.

The intermodal center will eventually link ground transportation, rental cars, parking, SunRail and All Aboard Florida in one center. All Aboard Florida is a private passenger train that will eventually link Orlando to Miami.

Congressman John Mica says that without this FAA approval, there would be no future airport expansion, and called the move “one of the most significant transportation and development projects of the next decade.”
