The Starving Artist Studios performing arts school began a few years ago in director Tim Evanicki's living room. Fast-forward to today and it's behind a successful production of Oliver!, now in its closing week.

The production boasts a cast of fifty – the youngest is five years old – and a 22-piece orchestra.

It is also part of an arts community movement called “What the Dickens?” The movement celebrates the 202nd birthday of Charles Dickens with 202 event days across Central Florida.

And, as Evanicki tells 90.7’s Nicole Creston, this production of Oliver! marks both the end of Starving Artist Studios…and a new beginning for the Maitland-based school.

Oliver! runs through July 20th at Winter Springs High School. More information is available at the Starving Artist Studios website.
