July 22, 2014 | WMFE, Orlando - With the threat of funds running out for transportation projects across the nation, Congress temporarily extended funding for the Federal Highway Trust Fund.

The fund is largely supported by the gas-tax, but MetroPlan Executive Director Harry Barley thinks it’s time to look at a mileage-based tax. 90.7’s Matthew Peddie speaks with him about overhauling the Highway Trust Fund and other transportation projects in Florida.

Also, the news of ties between police officers and the Ku Klux Klan shocked residents of Lake County’s Fruitland Park. The two officers are no longer with the department.
