UCF Metro #49 - UCF's Cowboys with Cameras

10/1/2006 or 10/8/2006

Remember good old-fashioned westerns?  Hollywood doesn’t make them much anymore.  But who could forget john wayne… the wild frontier… covered wagons… and outlaws.  Director john ford helped create the mythology of the american west with the movies he made between 1939 and 1964… on location in the desert southwest.  U-c-f film professor phil peters decided to take his students to the scenery this past summer.  Our program describes their adventure, including what was learned and experienced and how the study of film can teach all of us many things about our history, our culture, and ourselves.

Guests:
Phil Peters, Film Professor and Production Designer
Shanna DiNoble, UCF Radio-TV Student
John Nelson, UCF Digital Media Graduate Student
