Arts Connection for March 9-10, 2007

Orlando Ballet re-stages Fernando Bujones' SPARTACUS; the Orlando Chorale celebrates its 5th Anniversary with a commission by a major composer; Ralph's World comes to Orlando; a Florida journalists Top-5 Must Reads for Floridians; and meet the Orlando Poetry Troupe.

Orlando Ballet pays tribute to the late Fernando Bujones with a restaging this weekend of his epic ballet, Spartacus.  It will be danced by the pair who first performed it in 2003 - Israel Rodriguez and Giselle Menacho.  Performances are Friday & Saturday, March 9-10 at 8pm and Sunday at 2pm.  (Eddie Tovar & Joey Lynn Mann will dance the lead roles on Saturday).  There's also a Family Series presentation of Snow White, Saturday at 2pm.   407-426-1739 or Ticketmaster at 407-839-3900

The Orlando Chorale marks its 5th Anniversary this weekend with 2 special events and a concert Sunday at 3pm.  They have commissioned Jennifer Higdon for a new work based on the poem by e.e. cummings, somewhere i have never traveled, gladly beyond.  Other pieces on the concert include the Bernstein Chichester Psalms and pieces performed by the Orlando Chorale Chamber Singers. 

Meet Jennifer Higdon at an Hors d'oeurves & Wine Tasting party this Saturday from 6-8 at Bullfish Restaurant in Winter Park (no advance reservations necessary).   Then on Sunday at 1pm, 90.7's Dave Glerum hosts a Conversation with the Composer at 1st United Methodist Church in downtown Orlando.  407-786-8624
