Retired General Calls FL National Guard Underprepared for State Disasters June 26, 2007 -- A retired general who lead a command during the "first" war in Iraq says the current conflict that country has left the Florida National Guard under-prepared to handle natural disasters. Retired General Barry McCaffrey was in Orlando to meet with transportation officials in his capacity as the chairman of infrastructure design company HNTB. 90.7's David Pitman asked the General whether he agreed with recent remarks by U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, who says the Florida National Guard has barely half the equipment necessary to be fully effective during a disaster.
