The Ripple Effects of the Real Estate Slump

July 26, 2007 -- The latest numbers from the Florida Associaton of Realtors shows sales of existing single-family homes have fallen for 19 months in a row. Sales in June were off 30 percent across the state, while here in Orlando, sales fell by 43 percent, compared to June of 2006. And as the slowdown in the market continues, it's not just the people who build and sell homes who are feeling the pain, but other businesses that rely on homes changing hands. The latest jobless numbers for Florida are showing the unmistakable effects -- nearly 20,000 jobs tied to real estate were lost over the past year. 90.7's David Pitman has more on the companies that are experiencing the ripple effects of the real estate slump.
