Wednesday, 8/8 This is the final week to see 2 exhibits at the Polk Museum of Art in Lakeland -- DALÍ’S BOTANICAL PRINTS and JAPANESE TEXTILES FROM THE PERMANENT COLLECTION. Both will close this Sunday The 12th Annual Athens Wine Festival & Auction is Saturday at the Sands Theater Center in DeLand it benefits the Restoration of the Historic Athens Theatre The American Horn Quartet is in Daytona Beach giving a workshop and there are 3 public performances workshop students will give a concert tonight at 7.30 at DBCC, and Friday, at Westminster by the Sea Church in Daytona Beach Shores. Independent and art films are shown regularly at the Enzian Theatre in Maitland. Currently running thru tomorrow night is the Australian film, INTRODUCING THE DWIGHTS
Thursday, 8/9 The Bay Street Players in Eustis present MAN OF LA MANCHA, closing Sunday performances are tonight, Friday & Saturday at 8 and Sunday at 2:30 NUNSENSE II: THE SECOND COMING opens tonight at the Starlight Theater in College Park There’s a "Meet the Artist" wine, cheese & jazz reception tonight from 6 to 8, for Lorraine Turner's exhibit at the Steinway Piano Gallery in Altamonte Springs. The reception features jazz pianist Carol Stein.
Friday, 8/10 INSIDE OUT is tonight at 7 at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach it’s a chance to meet the current artists in residence, including playwright/poet Cornelius Eady, visual artist Maria González and composer Denis Smalley The American Horn Quartet is in Daytona Beach giving a workshop and they will give a recital Saturday night at 7:30 at the Daytona Beach Community College Theatre Center The Orlando Science Center has a Lecture Series this month as part of the exhibit, OUR BODY THE UNIVERSE WITHIN. Tomorrow night at 7:30, doctor, poet and author Christine Montross will give a reading from her new memoir, BODY OF WORK.
