Decision 2008: What Influence Will Florida's Earlier Primary Have on Other States?

(January 21, 2008) -- In an attempt to win more influence over who will earn the presidential nominations, state lawmakers last year decided to move Florida's primary date to January 29th, one of the earliest in the nation. That move, however, prompted the Democratic National Committee to strip the state of all delegates to the nominating convention. The Republican National Committee responded by taking away half the state's delegates. 90.7's David Pitman asked UCF Political Science professor Dr. Scot Schraufnagel whether the earlier primary will actually result in more influence. He says yes, especially when one compares this election to 2004.
