UCF Study Says Region's Poor and Middle Income Residents on Economic Edge

March 5, 2008 -- In 1996, the federal government undertook a massive effort to "end welfare as we know it." Since then, welfare rolls have been cut in half, sending thousands of low-income people into the workforce. Now, the University of Central Florida has conducted the first-ever comprehensive study of our region's low and moderate income populations to see how those groups are faring more than ten years later. It's being released this morning, and 90.7's Judith Smelser has this early look at the findings.
