OC Commish Teresa Jacobs Talks About Next Steps in Ethics Reform

(July 10, 2008) -- Orange County Commissioner Teresa Jacobs is vowing to continue her fight for ethics reform, despite the commission's adoption this week of several new ethics rules. The panel approved a package including limits on lobbyist gifts to elected officials, and a ban on campaign contributions from people bidding for county contracts. But Commissioner Jacobs says the new rules don't go far enough. As she nears the end of her second, and final, term, Jacobs told 90.7's David Pitman she's taking her case to the county's Charter Review Commission. And if the commission doesn't put tougher ethics reform rules on the ballot, she may launch her own petition drive.
