School Holidays Mean Some Kids Go Hungry - Local Food Bank Tries to Help

November 25, 2008 -- Thousands of Central Florida school children are enjoying a weeklong Thanksgiving break right now, but the holiday poses a danger for some students. A week without class can mean a week without food for kids who rely on government-subsidized school meals for most of their nutrition. It's less of a problem over Thanksgiving, when many churches and nonprofits help out, but on ordinary weekends, many children go hungry. One local organization is trying to help, as 90.7's Judith Smelser reports.
