Florida's First "Zipline Safari" Opens at Forever Florida in Osceola County

January 16, 2009 Florida's first zipline tour is having its grand opening today. The Zipline Safari is the latest addition to Florida EcoSafaris at Forever Florida. The zipline takes visitors on a mile-long tree-top tour across part of the 4,700 acre wildlife preserve southeast of St. Cloud. Those brave enough to climb 50 feet to the top of the starting platform can experience what it's like to sail through the air at 20 miles an hour. Ken Wilshire is the general manager of Florida EcoSafaris, which supports the non-profit Forever Florida. He tells 90.7's David Pitman that the idea for the zipline came up less than a year ago, when the park was looking for ways to cope with the recession.
