July 3, 2009-- I'm just guessing, but it's possible ABC execs didn't watch outtakes of the short lived TV series "The Cape" before reportedly green lighting the new show "Defying Gravity."

The ABC production may do just fine if it airs, but "The Cape" didn't. Cancelled after one season, the defunct program starred actors Corbin Bernsen and Adam Baldwin as astronauts whose lives and loves were chronicled between Shuttle missions. It was shot at Kennedy Space Center, and included special effects explosions near the Shuttle Landing Facility.

Continuity problems seemed to be an issue. Adam Baldwin's astronaut character was critically injured in an airlock accident in one episode, and then immediately assigned to a Shuttle flight the next. Actors I interviewed were left scratching their heads.
