Board of Governors Names New Trustees

The University of Central Florida has two new trustees after the state Board of Governors appointed 21 trustees yesterday for Florida's state universities. Former State House Speaker and former State Senator Daniel Webster will serve as a UCF trustee. Webster announced last week he would not challenge Democratic US Congressman Alan Grayson in next year's election. Webster will be joined on the UCF board by Raymond Gilley, president of the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission. Other appointees for Florida universities include Former State Representative Marjorie Turnbull, who will serve as a trustee at Florida A&M University and retired New York Stock Exchange President William R. Johnston who will serve at Sarasota's New College. Outgoing Board of Governors member Carolyn Roberts will take a position on the board at the University of Florida. She'll be joined on the UF board by Florida AT&T President Marshall Criser III. The Board of Governors received more than 200 applications for the 21 posts.
