T.S. Ida Makes Landfall in Alabama

Ida has weakened to a tropical depression and is heading east toward the Florida Panhandle. Ida was a tropical storm with winds near 45 mph when it came ashore near Mobile Bay in southern Alabama early this morning. The tropical depression is moving northeast and is expected to continue in that direction throughout the day. Forecasters say most of the heavy rain is over and tropical storm warnings have been discontinued for the Gulf Coast. As the system moves east, it could bring high winds, rain showers and the possibility of severe weather to Central Florida. For the latest information on tropical weather conditions and for tips on hurricane preparation, visit the "Storms" section of WMFE's website.
